Sparrow today announced that it has been acquired by Google for an undisclosed sum. Sparrow offers a Gmail client for Apple computers and for the iPhone. The company said that it will be joining Google's Gmail team, to "accomplish a bigger vision ... that we think we can better achieve with Google." That royally stinks

Sparrow was an *exceptional* application. Now they've purchased it and are killing it off. Now we lose a really terrific desktop/mobile client, and given how absolutely terrible Gmail for iOS and Gmail for Android is, it's pretty sad.
Isn't that why they bought them ? Maybe they realised that their App should be filed under G (for garbage) and maybe they want to make it better by buying the competition, and using them to improve their own products.
Who says they are killing it?

Sparse-o

In my opinion, Sparrow is a downgrade compared to gmail. "Sparse-o's email client resembles the first generation of Outlook Express.
