Nokia Licenses Macromedia Flash For Handsets

Nokia has signed an agreement with Macromedia to integrate Flash technology into the Series 60 platform as well as extending it to their other platforms in the future. As part of the agreement, Macromedia will build a Flash player for Series 60 which can be included in future handsets built on the platform. Operators and developers will then be able to build applications and web services for smartphones by using Flash. In Europe, T-Mobile has already launched a news magazine for Series 60 phones using Flash.

Is nothing sacred anymore? I hope this is promptly followed by the release of "cell-firefox" so I can promptly block all the god forsaken flash advertisments. The only place i want flash is with my 5 megapixel camera/cell phone/mp3 player/radio device.

I was just about to comment on how our smartphones are getting closer and closer to a true internet experience. Hopefully, newer browsers for smartphones will be able to block the inevitable pop-ups made possible by flash.
What's wrong with Flash? This has nothing to do with ads, BTW. Flash is a great way to put a much richer, faster interface on a small-screen device.
Will it support previous versions?
Does anyone know if this means will add support for previous handsets. I plan on getting a Panasonic X700 but might hold off if I can't get this till the next release.
