At 3GSM PhoneScoop met with representatives who were able to give us specifications on the phone as well as show one to us. The Chi Mei model number is UCP-100, however since Chi Mei is an ODM, this will likely be renamed by companies who license this handset. The phone is quad band GSM/GPRS with EDGE and features 802.11g Wi-Fi, a 1.3 MP camera, dual color displays, Bluetooth and a MiniSD slot. It will run Microsoft's Smartphone OS, but which version is still not known. Although the UCP-100 is expected to launch in 2005, neither Kineto nor Chi Mei have estimated which quarter as of yet.
I'd consider it...
If it wasn't running Windows Mobile.
Microsoft will get Windows right one of these days... But wait 😲 .... That means no more profit for newer, less buggy versions. Ah well...
Release date?
I just signed a 2 yr and have the MPX 220, should I take it back and wait for this one to be released?
Does anyone have any websites for the MPX 220 to get some apps?
Thanks,
Ben

Cost
Chi Mei made the Mpx220 for Moto so I dunno if this would retail for more than 500.... the MPX has been at a $300 price point for quite a while with a contract and retail its about $450. The Only additions to this one are WI-FI and edge... I would say maybe $600 buts thats just my guess based on previous Moto MPX's. And Who Knows, Maybe Moto won't be the one to pick this one up!
Wow
I love the look of this phone, I hope to see more phones from this "Chi Mei". Great Size for a smart phone. 😁
I like the fact of bluetooth, edge, and wifi. NICE! Probably looking about at $799 - $899 retail once it's released though.
