AT&T Hoping to Snag WCS Spectrum in San Diego

AT&T recently filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission seeking permission to purchase two spectrum licenses from the San Diego Gas & Electric Company. The two licenses cover Wireless Communications Service spectrum in the greater San Diego area. According to AT&T, the license transfer would put to use underutilized spectrum and shore up its long-term LTE 4G plans. The FCC has accepted the application and set up a schedule for opponents of the deal to file the appropriate paperwork. AT&T did not immediately place a value on the spectrum license transfer.
