For the second week in a row, details surfaced today on the FCC web site about new, unannounced Samsung phones for North America. Both are clamshell CDMA phones with internal antennas and speakerphone.
- SCH-A950: A music-oriented phone with a spinning scroll wheel on the front, built-in stereo speakers, and a TransFlash memory card slot. Features of this dual-band digital phone also include Bluetooth, a megapixel camera, and dual color displays. Model numbering and references to "Get It Now" in the user manual point to Verizon as a potential carrier. According to the Bluetooth SIG web site, the phone will only support the headset, handsfree and serial primary profiles, not DUN or OBEX.
- SPH-A820: A more basic tri-mode phone with PTT and a large monochrome outer display. Model numbering and references to "PCS Vision" and "ReadyLink" in the user manual point to Sprint as a potential carrier. Apparently a successor to the RL-A760, upgrading to an internal antenna.

sprint &nextel combo
I would like to know if anyone knows when the new (sprint-nextel) phone that can be used for both two way systems is coming out I have been waiting a long time.
A long time? 😕 The merger was only announced less than six months ago, and it's not even finalized or official yet!
Sprint-Nextel didn't ask Motorola to start working on such a phone until the day the deal was announced. It takes about two years ...

U-G-L-Y you ain't got no alibi... you ugly
samsung really needs to make better looking phones. its sad to see this once awesome company making crappy looking phones. it looks like i am stuck with my sanyo until the cdma razor comes out... and as for you samsung hire some one who understands what aesthetics are.
and you think Sanyo's are 🤣
Aesthetics is subjective.
Thanks for your opinion. I have mine.
GET IT NOW...
REGRET IT LATER... SOS from VZW. Here is a great feature... well almost a feature, well yes it does play music BUT you will have to download it from OUR site. Sorry, you cannot transfer it to your card reader them stick it in your phone... but is has Bluetooth... kind of. VZW legal team must have woke up because they finally put the "crippled" statements in their description.
Gee, complain about the same stuff peple have been complaining about for 2 years, again. Get over it, its not going to change, if you dont like it than get a different phone. 🙄
You seem really upset. I just don't understand all the anger towards verizon. You know you can port your number don't you? Or have you done that and are still upset with verizon. Sounds like you need a good run.

A820 Release Date?
Anyone have any ideas about the A820 release date?
I've been looking for a solid Sprint phone with an internal antenna. Wasn't too thrilled with the LG VI-125. Felt like it was going to break in my hand.
What is the typical timeline to market once the phone appears on the FCC website?

ok....
The 950 looks cool and all, but lets be honest, how many MP3's can you store on a MicroSD card anyway? Just kinda curious why they'd try to put all of that high-end music device equipment and then add the smallest (size and storagewise) card type out on the market?
You can get 512 MB TransFlash cards for under $65 now. 512 isn't too shabby, especially for something that small (which keeps the phone small).
I like it!
It will be nice to see a phone for verizon with an internal antenna. I wonder if that scroll wheel will be like the ipod. Looks like a nice phone. I'm still holding my breath for the motorola ms550.
