Rumors, including details and internal presentation renderings, of two new phones from Sony Ericsson surfaced over the weekend. The phone code named Ellen, although it looks like a new SE slider launched in Japan, is actually a smaller version of the S700/S710 spinner phone. It features a second set of soft buttons above the screen so it can be held horizontally for gaming. It should have 176 x 220 screen, 1.3 MP camera, Bluetooth and EDGE. It is also said to be more comfortable and easier to open than the current spinners. Zoe is a refreshed version of the Z500 currently available from Cingular, featuring a different external display but similar specs. Both phones are shown with changeable covers. Sony Ericsson President Miles Flint recently confirmed the company planned to launch more mid-range handsets this year.

I like the Ellen but...

... small screen + low-res = BOOOOOOOOOOO 😡
I want to know what's up with the manufacturers giving their phones actual names now instead of model numbers...I think it's cool, but I just want to know if there's a reason for it.
