Sprint today announced they will begin launching their EV-DO high speed wireless data network this month. The rollout will begin by lighting up the airports and business districts of 34 markets. Coverage will then expand to cover 14 major metro areas in the 3rd quarter, and another 36 metro areas by the end of 2005. In early 2006, Sprint expects to have EV-DO coverage in 60 metro areas. Service will initially be available to data users via 2 PC Cards which are already available. EV-DO capable phones will be launched during the fourth quarter. Pricing for data card users is set at $40 per month for 40 MB (with a cap of $90), and $80 for unlimited data.
