Twitter Enables DMs from Any Follower

Twitter recently tweaked its direct messaging tool such that users can now allow all their followers to send them private messages. Previously, Twitter required that two users followed one another so that private messages could be sent between them. The change means users will be able to receive direct messages from those they do not follow, but who follow them. The feature is off by default and must be turned on through users' individual account settings.

Positive Step

I often use Twitter to locate people I need/want to network with for work. This is a fantastic change, but I doubt many people will turn it on. I completely understand why not---with so many bots on Twitter--it would increase your spam potential exponentially.
