FCC Approves Sprint Nextel Merger
Aug 3, 2005, 4:54 PM by (staff)
The FCC conditionally approved the Sprint Nextel merger this afternoon. The two companies can join their business and networks together so long as they make good on their promise to offer service in the 2.5 GHz spectrum within 4 years. The merger has now cleared all government roadblocks, just leaving suits from Sprint's affiliates in the way. Sprint's buyout of US Unwired, which cleared one lawsuit out of the way, has just been approved by the FTC. Sprint also reached an agreement with Ubiquitel, which will drop their suit if Sprint agree to not offer Nextel service, or any new service using Nextel's spectrum in Ubiquitel's service area. There are still three more affiliate suits pending.

Sprint has potential and so does Nextel to become one of the greatest cell phone companies in the industry.
Give them a chance. This merge is good for all of us Sprint/Nextel subscribers.

After that, I am sure Sprint will try its best to listen to the needs of its customer base. I would guess that the eventual new l...
