Senate Confirms Wheeler as FCC Chair
Oct 29, 2013, 7:48 PM by Eric M. Zeman
The Senate unanimously confirmed Tom Wheeler as the new chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. The Senate was originally scheduled to vote on the matter earlier this month, but the vote was delayed by Senator Ted Cruz's concerns over Wheeler's potential policies concerning lobbying disclosures. Cruz and Wheeler met today to put the matter to rest. Wheeler, who was nominated by President Barack Obama, will assume the leadership role that has been fulfilled on a temporary basis by commissioner Mignon Clyburn since May.
