Nov 21, 2013, 8:23 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Microsoft filed a lawsuit against Acacia Research this week over a broken contract pertaining to smartphone patents. Microsoft signed an agreement with an Acacia subsidiary in 2010 to license some of its mobile device patents. Last month, other Acacia subsidiaries sued Microsoft for violating about a dozen mobile device patents. Microsoft's lawsuit is a response to the first. Acacia and its subsidiaries are owned by Access, which is based in Japan.
