T-Mobile Expands 4G LTE to 273 Cities

T-Mobile today announced that its 4G LTE network now covers 209 million people in 273 metro areas. They also announced speed test results that indicate their network is now the fastest. In markets with 10+10 MHz LTE, they are seeing 72 Mbps. In markets like Dallas with 20+20 MHz, customers can expect up to 147 Mbps.

Verizon has formally announced plans to launch 5G in the new "C-band" mid-band radio frequencies later his month, and filled in details of what the launch will include. The company is promising to cover 100 million people — nearly 1/3 of the population — with the new network at launch.

At a presentation for investors today, Verizon announced an accelerated timeline for deploying mid-band (C-band) 5G across the US. The company now plans for its mid-band 5G network to cover 175 million people by the end of 2022, a full year earlier than the company previously planned to reach that milestone.

These are the first phones approved by the FCC that support band 70.

T-Mobile's 5G network covers 323 million people and its faster "Ultra Capacity" 5G network now covers 260 million people, a goal the company has set for the end of this year. 300 million is the company's plan for the end of 2023.

T-Mobile today announced the REVVL 7 series of T-Mobile-branded phones exclusively for T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile. T-Mobile also announced some slightly unusual perks exclusive to the REVVL series on Metro.

Oh man, that's incredible. I know they're only test speeds but that's just incredible. 140 mbps+?! I don't even know what you'd need more than 20 mbps for for a single household, let alone a single phone!

I guarantee those speeds will go down when more people start using LTE with T-Mobile and more MetroPCS user start getting T-Mobile compatible phones. If T-Mobile can keep the speeds up, then and only then will they earn those braggings rights.

Yes that is nice and yes that is if 1 person is on the network. The real test when enough devices are able to pick it up and see what it is during business hours in the day. Either way I'm sure it will average around 7-10 mbs which should be enough ...
