A federal court has maintained a lower court's ruling against BCGI and the companies that subscribe to their prepaid management services including Cingular. The court fined BCGI $128 Million for violating Freedom Wireless' patents from 1997 that cover many aspects of pre-paid phone plans. BCGI provides management and software to Cingular, Western Wireless and other carriers, all of which have be named as co-defendants. Fearing bankruptcy if the judgement stands, BCGI will continue to appeal their case. Cingular will post a bond for BCGI in order to bring the case before a federal Court of Appeals.
