Engadget yesterday got a new Treo long enough to take a few pictures of what is no doubt Palm's next smartphone. Now called the Treo 700W, this is Palm's first Windows Mobile smartphone. The device Engadget received clearly shows a Verizon logo, and in addition to EV-DO high speed data, Engadget claims the device features Bluetooth, 1 MP camera, SD slot and 64 MB RAM. Palm, Microsoft and Verizon have just called a press conference for Monday, tacitly confirming most of this information. A Howard Chui tipster today spent some time with a RAZR 2 - not the 3G RAZR V3x, but the revision of the current RAZR. The device features a new keypad and glowing logo on the outer flip. The camera is upgraded to 1.3 MP, a TransFlash slot has been added and the model pictured features the iTunes software and airplane mode from the ROKR.

Just Enough Info to Be Frustrating
As usual, the new information on the RAZR 2, is just enough information to frustrate. You know that it is in R&D, you know that it is only a prototype, and you know it's GSM with some new bells an whistles. No news on potential release dates and which carriers if any in the US will have the phone for availablility. Argh. Oh well, looks cool and if it does get ITunes, it should be interesting. I just use regular MP3 players personnally. They meet the need and don't cost a fortune. Besides, why do I need more than one or two hours of songs at a time? I only work out for 2 hours at a time. And here's to hoping that both national GSM carriers get the phone. Although I can hear the Cingular droves now, "T-Mobile won't get it, it's a Cin...

You've got a point - after Cingular's got it for 6 months straight, it does become an old phone. It's why I don't own the RAZR V3 --- because by the time you could get one here in the US (OEM - US released w/ warranty) everyone and their dog had one. ...

EDGE?

Tre 700w to be announced on Monday
As I noted on MobileTracker, Palm today announced a press conference with Microsoft and Verizon Wireless for Monday at 9am PT. Looks like we'll get all the details on the 700w (and hopefully 700p) in a few days.
Actually I read the original wrong and you guys noted it, but still exciting.
When do you think other carriers will get the 700w? It took a while for everyone to get the 650, Spint had a nice exclusive.
