Univision Launches Hispanic MVNO on T-Mobile's Network

Univision, the Spanish-language television network, today announced Univision Mobile, a wireless service designed for Hispanics living in the U.S. Univision Mobile is an MVNO and will resell access to T-Mobile's 2G/3G network. Univision Mobile has two basic plans. The first provides unlimited talk and text for $30 month. The second provides unlimited talk, text, and up to 2.5GB of 3G data for $45 per month. Both plans include unlimited international texting from the U.S. to some Latin American countries and 200 other countries around the world. Further, the service includes 100 voice minutes for calling mobile or landlines in Mexico and seven other Latin American countries. In addition to the basic communications services, Univision Mobile includes a portal with news, sports, and entertainment for Hispanics, as well as Univision apps, ringtones, wallpaper, and more content. Univision Mobile will be available in Walmart stores beginning May 19. It will also be available for purchase in select retailers in Puerto Rico. According to Univision, customers may bring their own compatible handset and purchase a Univision SIM card, or choose from Univision's own handsets.

"Hispanic" technically refers to people from Spain (or that region), although it is now used as a catchall for anyone born in or has ancestry from a Spanish-speaking country (usually based in the Western Hemisphere)
