Dobson Wireless today announced they will buy the Cellular One brand from Alltel. After Alltel purchased Western Wireless which owned the Cellular One name, Dobson was named as the most likely company to purchase the brand. Dobson already operates under the Cellular One brand and before Alltel's purchase of Western, was the second largest carrier to use it. The $1.3 Million purchase is still subject to regulatory approval, but is expected to close before the end of the year.

Is unicel part of cellularone?

Where does unicel fall into this buying? Are they a part of cellularone??
If I'm not mistaken, Unicel is part of RCC, or Rural Cellular Corporation. AFAIK, they have no affiliations whatsoever with Dobson.
...
At this point in time, no. Rural Cellular Corp. used to use the CellOne name in most markets, but dropped the CellOne affiliation and rebranded all markets to the Unicel name last year.

Heh

The name that just wont DIE.

Too bad the brand image is associated with large brick phones....or at least its burnt into my head that way.
I always think about service problems and terrible customer service.
