Sprint Continues To Snatch Up Affiliates

Sprint Nextel has finalized a deal to purchase another Sprint affiliate Enterprise Communications. Sprint will pay $98 million for the affiliate, which covers parts of Alabama and Georgia. They will also pay an additional $2 million for spectrum owned by Enterprise. Enterprise will be the fifth affiliate the company has purchased, but more are still holding out. Ubiquitel and Horizon still have outstanding lawsuits against Sprint Nextel, and this week Sprint lost a round to the companies when a judge refused to drop Ubiquitel's suit.

Wasn't Sprint in financial trouble not long ago?

A few years back I heard rumors that Sprint wasn't doing so well....any grounds for this?

Either it was a lie, or they really turned it around.
Not that I can answer this question but, does anyone know exactly how much Sprint has spent buying all these affiliates, not to mention how much was actually paid to merge with Nextel?

they did, but they have great managment and a better business plan/model which helps them to lead in many metrics and turn this around..
