Kik Interactive, the company behind the Kik messaging service, is exploring strategic options including a sale or investment. Kik has hired Qatalyst Partners to help it set up face time with investors in Silicon Valley and Asia, according to Bloomberg. The company has about 200 million users. It thinks larger companies may be able to help its service grow in the face of steep competition from rivals WhatsApp, SnapChat, Skype, and Facebook Messenger. "We had a lot of inbound interest, especially this year," said Kik's CEO Ted Livingston. "We hired Qatalyst to work through all the options, one of which is to stay independent."
