Sprint Nextel Shares Technology Rollout Schedule
Mar 23, 2006, 6:02 PM by (staff)
Sprint Nextel discussed several new technologies and devices expected on its network at a recent investor conference. The carrier confirmed previous reports that it expects to launch a dual mode iDEN / CDMA handset in October of this year. The phone will use iDEN for PTT and CDMA for voice and data calls. In the second half of this year Sprint will also launch a dual mode service with its cable partners. Initially they will launch CDMA / Wi-Fi phones that will allow subscribers to use their cable broadband connection and a Wi-Fi access point to make phone calls. Next year they intend to extend the capabilities to integrate home media into the handsets. Sprint expects to commercially launch EV-DO Revision A in the first quarter of 2007 and offer PTT over the network (including iDEN - CDMA cross network connections) in early 2008. In the second quarter of this year, Sprint will also make a decision on which 4G wireless broadband technology the carrier will launch on its 2.5 GHz spectrum.

Way to ingratiate yourself with the proprietors of this website. Ever think we'd rather get our information from them?

Yeah but you dont have credibility.
Are you suggesting we shouldn't post news if someone has mentioned it in a forum somewhere (that we may or may not have seen)? 😕
Good Luck and wishful thoughts
october 2010? for what.. the dual mode is coming october of this year.. (2006!)
whos making the iDEN/CDMA phone?
There are others in the pipeline that are more advanced and blur the lines a bit more (meaning they look more like a typical CDMA phone) but I think that will be the first one.
