Google Adds Phone and Contacts Apps to Play Store

Google has made the stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow phone and contact applications available via the Play Store. The move is the latest in a series that has seen Google pull core apps out of the overall Android platform so it can update them individually and more frequently through the store. Other examples include Gmail and Google Maps. The phone and contact apps received minor updates in the process that make them easier to use. For example, editing contacts is now simpler and managing caller ID is streamlined. The two apps are only supported on Nexus, Android One, and Google Play Edition devices running Android Marshmallow and above.
