Facebook today brought its Instant Articles to Android devices. The social network already offers quick-loading articles to iPhone users. Instant Articles offers two benefits: first, consumers should see much faster load times when they click on articles; and second, publishers can offer more interactive experiences within their articles, such as tilt-to-pan. Facebook says more than 350 publishers around the world have signed up for the service, including many popular U.S. media properties. Some are: ABC News, Billboard, Bleacher Report, BuzzFeed, CBS News, CNET, CNN, Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Entertainment Weekly, Fox News, Gawker Media, Good Housekeeping, The Huffington Post, Mashable, MTV, National Geographic, NBA, NBC News, NPR, New York Post, Rolling Stone, Seventeen, SPIN, TechCrunch, The New York Times, The Onion, The Verge, The Washington Post, The Weather Channel, Time, Us Weekly, USA Today, Variety, Wall Street Journal, and many others. Facebook says more publishers are joining the program each day. Facebook is free to download from the Google Play Store.
