Skype for Android Earns Tighter Outlook and Office Integration
Jan 20, 2016, 11:12 AM by Eric M. Zeman

Microsoft today updated Skype for Android with new ways to work with Outlook and Office. The latest version of Microsoft's calling and messaging app allows users to schedule calls in Outlook from Skype easily by tapping the contact's name and using the scheduling tool to send an invite. This feature is available to other calendar apps, too, says Microsoft. Skype now also supports Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents, which can be opened directly in the app from within chat threads. Users who've not already downloaded Microsoft's Office apps for Android will be prompted to install the app before they can open the shared file in Skype. Skype for Android is free to download from the Google Play Store.
