Is It Your Type? Body The Three S's

Dec 19, 2007, 3:39 PM   by Eric M. Zeman

The LG Voyager is more than an enV on steroids, it is a phone for power users. There are a few hiccups, though. Read about them here.

Is It Your Type?

Let's face it. If you're interested in the LG VX10000 Voyager, you're a power user. More than an LG enV on steroids, the Voyager almost does it all. Media playback and capture, full HTML web browsing, every form of messaging known to man, and, heck, it even makes pretty decent phone calls. If you're into any of the aforementioned, the Voyager is a solid candidate. Let's explore in detail why.

Browser/Speed?

One line in their review that I found really interesting:

One thing of note, the EV-DO radio did not necessarily make for super snappy browsing. In side-by-side tests, the iPhone, running on AT&T's EDGE network, often loaded pages faster.

Has anyone used both devices and noticed such a difference?
LoL, this is not possible, the average rate difference between EVDO and EDGE is at least 10x.

But the reviewer is not lying, most likely when the test was done the iphone was connected via WiFi, which could be faster than EVDO.

HTML

Am I correct in assuming that the voyager can view full html pages like the iphone can or is it a stripped down version like the mogul? I really don't see a point in paying for dilapidated internet if wifi is not available.
Yes, it can view full html web pages. It has javascript as well, but it doesn't have flash.

questions

i'm eligible for a new phone with vzw and i have a few questions that i haven't seen discussed recently. the speakerphone does not work with the phone closed? is this still correct or has it been fixed? also, anyone know if a touch screen qwerty keyboard can be added through a software or firmware update? the speakerphone thing really bugs me. i need to have a speakerphone that works without opening the phone...
Well, no the speakerphone doesn't work with the phone closed, maybe a software update could fix this, but even if it did, it would probably be sort of muffled. A touch screen qwerty keyboard could possibly be added, but I'd doubt they would add it. ...

Email Integration

Did you guys try the Mobile Email software? It's preloaded on the phone under tools on the go and is free if you have the Verizon Premium plan. This program allows you to check email without having to use the web browser. It has Yahoo, Windows Live, AOL, Verizon.net and an option for pop 3 accounts too.
I have to say in all my life i never knew it was possible, but today i fell in love with my co-worker, his name is will

I've had the phone for 3 weeks now and yesterday configured the Mobile Email Software. The feature I really like about it is that it will give an audible indicator when a new email has arrived to one of the configured accounts, similar to the Blackbe...

A Better Look...

Call me picky (and I mean that cause I am), but I think it would just look a billion times better and I'd definately buy one if it were a slider phone instead of a flip. I don't know why but I love slider phones. Maybe if I wish real hard they'll make one as a slider 🤣

PS I know they have the venus but it doesnt have a full keyboard so that kind of kills it for me.

Wonder if they reviewed it with new firmware?

I doubt it....this review is not very helpful as the battery life, touchscreen, etc. all has been improved with the firmware update. Too bad they didn't wait a few more days...
Still, to get three days of battery life with all the use? I'm starting to wonder whether the writer actually meant hours. (I actually checked that paragraph twice. 😳)
