As the number of bids per round has slowed to about half of the initial pace, the FCC has taken another step to bring the AWS auction to a close. Today the FCC further sped up the auction's pace by reducing the auction to six 30 minute rounds per day. The standings have not changed much since the start of phase two. In addition to regional licenses, owner of large metro area licenses appears to be settled as well. Bidders - primarily national and regional carriers are now competing for medium sized markets like Rochester, NY and Mobile, AL. The auction has now raised $13.6 billion in bids.
