Google Speeds Up File Sharing in Files Go

Google today announced an update to its peer-to-peer sharing app, File Go, and says the new version is dramatically improved. To start, the sharing tool is easier to find and use because it is called out in a dedicated tab. The tab itself has a smoother interface and works on all devices running Android 5 and up. Files Go should be much faster at connecting to nearby devices for transferring files. Google says improved connection techniques allow devices to start talking to one another within five seconds. The app taps into WiFi Direct in the 5 GHz band to push files from one phone to another up to four times faster than before. Last, the app is more secure, as all file transfers are encrypted. Files Go is free to download from the Google Play Store.
