Helio today announced the Ocean, the company's most feature-laden phone to date. The phone sports a dual-slide design that opens like a typical slider with a numeric keypad, but also opens sideways to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. The Ocean contains several key new software features, including the ability to search the web simply by typing a search term from the home screen, and a photo service linked to the phone's GPS for tracking where each photo was taken. A new integrated messaging application incorporates most popular IM and email services, including Microsoft Exchange servers. Exchange support extends to calendars and contacts, and the Ocean's contact list also shows presence status from major IM services. The phone's music player is the first to support user-loaded songs with Windows DRM (PlaysForSure) in addition to standard MP3s. Other features include a 2 megapixel camera and stereo Bluetooth. In addition to a memory card slot, the phone sports 200 MB of internal memory. The Ocean is manufactured by Pantech. The Ocean will be available in the spring for $295.
