ASUS Zenfone 10 Flagship Keeps it Small

Asus has announced its newest compact flagship phone, the Zenfone 10. It has a 5.9-inch FHD+ OLED display with an all-screen design and up to 144 Hz refresh, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. With most of today's smartphones sporting screens well over 6 inches, that makes this high-end phone unusually compact. It's powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The main camera offers 50 megapixel resolution and 6-axis "hybrid gimbal" OIS stabilization. There is also a 13 megapixel wide camera and 32 megapixel front camera with RGBW sensor. The 4,300 mAh battery can be topped up with 15-watt wireless charging or 30-watt wired charging. It has an IP68 rating for dust and water, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and comes in five colors: green, blue, red, black, and white. Although US pricing was not announced, it will come to the US by the end of the 3rd quarter.

Short support periods

Phones have gotten so good now, they can easily last 5 years. As such, it’s difficult to consider devices such as this one with a relatively short support period. Samsung, Google and some other makers now give 5 years of security updates and 3-4 years of major Android system upgrades.

No barometer, no bottom RGB LED notification light? No microSD?

Why did ASUS go backwards with this one?

Excellent (But does it have an SD card slot?)

I like this phone, except for the SD card slot, it checks all the boxes that people need on a reasonable sized phone. That's what the Galaxy S23 should be like. Fast storage (USF 4.0) and lots of memory, and a 3.5mm headphone jack!! The only thing I'd change is the selfie camera to the center of the phone.
