Qualcomm Targets Entry-Level 5G Phones with Snapdragon 4s Gen 2

Qualcomm has released its most affordable 5G chipset yet with the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2. It offers Gigabit (1 Gbps) 5G data speeds, which is less than the 2.5 Gbps offered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, but still seven times faster than the Cat 4 LTE "typically available in the same price tier." The new 4s Gen 2 also trades a bit of CPU speed, RAM speed, display refresh rate, and maximum camera resolution compared to the 4 Gen 2. However it maintains an advanced 4nm manufacturing process for good power efficiency, dual 12-bit Spectra ISPs for advanced camera features, and relatively fast storage and USB specs (for this class). It also brings support for a few advanced features not usually seen in the 4 series like MFNR (multi-frame noise reduction) for improved photo quality in low light, as well as AI-powered audio features. The first devices using the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 are expected to be announced later this year.

Who still buys the Qualcomm 4 series?

Are there any major manufacturers still buying the Qualcomm 4 series? It seems like the low-end now seems to be dominated by MediaTek and Unisoc which are significantly cheaper.
It does seem like Qualcomm could be more competitive at the low end, and perhaps this new chip is part of an effort to do just that.

But it's interesting that Xiaomi is the only publicly-announced customer for this chip so far.
