Samsung Electric has created an 8 Megapixel CMOS module for mobile phones. The module has the same footprint as Samsung's 3.2 Megapixel module at 10.5 X 11.5 X 9.4mm. It measures 3,264 x 2,444 pixels, has autofocus and can produce 300dpi picture output for prints as large as 10 x 8 inches. The module is expected to go into mass production in the first half of 2008 and should be available in high-end Samsung phones later in 2008.

way to go
8MP
that is crazy, and with auto focus?
next thing you know they put a man on the moon
Think about in 20-30 years. I mean, in the past ten, we've gone from non camera phones to now, 8MP cameraphones.
The human eye is only estimated at roughly 81MP, so maybe in 20-30 years, we'll have cameras as good as/better than the human eye!
I love samsung
I dont care what consumer reports has to say, I think samsung is the best. 😁
samsung has the highlest loyalty among cell phone manufacturers
8mp + android = ???
I for-see a future where phones with high resolution cameras in them can be linked into Google maps. Go to maps.google.com, and zooming in enough would bring live footage of the area from people willingly running the always-on camera software.
Wow
Thats all I can say...
Although, Samsung has made a 10mp cameras phone. Thats crazy.
But still, good job!
