Apple Brings New Functionality to iPhone
Jan 15, 2008, 12:37 PM by Eric M. Zeman
Today Apple announced that it will add several new functions to the iPhone with the latest firmware update. The Google Maps application now includes the ability to find your current location and provides the hybrid satellite/map view. The GPS feature will work similar to Google's MyLocation service for BlackBerry, using geographical information from cell towers to determine approximate location. The iPhone can now also SMS multiple recipients at once. It will also allow you to create multiple homescreens, add web page links directly to the home screen, and rearrange the icons on the home screen.

any song a ringtone: I'm sure Steve would LOVE to give you that feature. But the record companies wouldn't. (I don't know why.) I suppose some copyright lawyer out there didn't like the idea of someone taking a clip of a song...

Moving from EDGE to HSDPA would have been an equally great announcement.

Considering
Apple using their own programmers and design team to come up with a whole new OS for their equipment is nothing short of outstanding and should be complimented on an excellent achievement!
The other facet to consider is that the OS is new. Does anybody remember when Windows Mobile came out? There were alot of bugs to work out as well things you couldn't do and things you coul...

The weblink view was a temporary solution, you still need to address this issue. Your other option is to put out a patch to Safari to allow us to save images from Safari.

Put this in perspective
In terms of sheer capabilty, the iPhone doesn't do a lot that other phones can't, but it's drastically different from other phones in that Apple isn't treating it like a disposable attention getter while they work on the next 3 generations of the same model. Sure, there are other companies that give out minor firmware updates, and there are 3rd party software providers for ...

Best keeps getting better!
it's a stupendous device, YES. But, Steve is making people drool over things that just "arent' that special". He's prolonging features to make sure that apple stocks rise slowly instead of rise and plummet. That's why "multiple texts" wa...

Gee, thanks steve!
But it's still one of the only phones that CAN be changed with an upgrade. So, I'll let it slide.
Steve also announced sliced bread and spam at a lunch convention earlier today.
