Samsung engineers have created a new process that will allow ordinary tap water to provide the electrical power for mobile phones. Water stored in the phone will contact a metal plate. The reaction between the plate and water will create hydrogen gas. The hydrogen gas is then funneled into a fuel cell, where it will further react with oxygen to create electrical power. Because the reactions can generate up to three watts of power, these water-based fuel cells will be powerful enough to be used in devices such as mobile phones. Current versions of the fuel cell can provide power for about 10 hours, and the metal cartridge needs to be replaced about once every five days. Future generations of this technology will not require the cartridges to be changed. Users will be able to fill their phones with water and get power.

BULL#H*T!!!!!
Then why is my car still burning unleaded gasolene??? I wouldnt mind changing a 1,500 pound cartrige twice or even three times a week if i didn't have to pay for gas!!!! Then again thats alot of water 😕
the price of water would rise.
A revolution
Does this mean that if your stranded in the desert and your phone dies you could spit on it and it will power up. LOl think about it
It will probably require something like distilled water!
"Did you just say bomb on an Airplane?"
This brings up a good question. Are these phones going to be banned on an Airplanes? I mean we all know how reactive Hydrogen is, one of these phones could potentially be used as a weapon. 😲
Shh... you're going to attract all of the idiots who still think that the Hindenburg exploded.
April Fool's.. oh wait, its no longer April Fool's Day
Maybe Samsung took its cue from Google (albeit a little late in the month..) and decided to attempt to play its own lame version of april fool's prank...
SHOCKED???
the way i see it is, if they create a phone that is waterproofed then they can use a water hydrogen battery fuel cell, the only concern i have about this technology is wont the user be shocked by the device if the water leaks or is on the device in any way? i know the last thing i want is to have a electronic burn on my ear. 👿
Im sure they never thought of that 🙄
If someone is going to roll out something like this technology I am sure they have thought of all the idiots out there trying to take it apart, etc.
Talk about "vaporware"
Get it?? Water? "Vapor" ?? Man, I crack myself up.
Don't quit your day job...funny tho
Yeesh
"Future generations of this technology will not require the cartridges to be changed."
Oh hor$ecr@p.
Maybe the cartridge will last a lot longer, but it will still need to be changed eventually.
The water isn't powering the phone, the cartridge is.
Water Damage?
How will they determine water damage on the phone for warranty issues? Of Course theres been water on the phone. Plus think about all the people trying to pour water into their phone.. Not to hot in my mind
^ It was the first thing that came to my mind..
Didn't you read on here that a Japanese company made a sealant that will work with cellphones to stop water from leaking in?
Just don't drop it!
Thinking back to our experiments in high school physics...
