Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology and Idemitsu Kosan announced a new display technology that dramatically boosts the lifespan of the screen while also dramatically lowering the amount of energy needed to power it. The small-molecule organic electroluminescent (EL) display panel for mobile equipment uses just one-tenth the power of today's screens, and can last for 60,000 hours. Based on the success of this development, the two companies will begin to manufacture displays that can be used in devices such as mobile phones.
