Motorola Successfully Tests LTE in 700MHz Spectrum

Motorola announced that it has successfully completed voice and data tests of its Long Term Evolution equipment in the 700MHz spectrum band. The tests were conducted both in Motorola's labs and at an outdoor location in Illinois. The sessions included mobile video streaming and various high data rate applications. The lower frequency bands provide better coverage and in-building penetration that the higher bands do. Earlier this year, the FCC auctioned off wide swaths of 700MHz spectrum, and it is believed that network operators such as Verizon Wireless will use that spectrum to deploy their LTE networks.
