Google Maps v3.4 for Droid Enables Multitouch

Google recently announced version 3.4 of Google Maps for Mobile. It became available for the Motorola Droid today in the Android Market. One of the new features includes multitouch within Google Maps.

Nice to see we are not completely left in the dark. 🙂
I'm guessing that maps is seen as an application, where the Browser is a core process. Apps can be updated through the store, core processes need OTA

I'm glad they didn't take away the zoom buttons!

I just updated mine and I'm glad they added it for when I'm stationary...but I'm also glad they realized that multitouch requires TWO HANDS and that's not a good idea when you're driving, so they left the -/+ zoom buttons on the screen for us too.

BTW, they seem to be adding cool stuff to Maps from Google Labs somewhat regularly. I just discovered they've added a "My Location" button, which I've been missing from the Windows Mobile version ever since I switched to the Droid.

Has anyone been able to find the Night Mode, though? Or maybe that is only for the N1? I can't find it.
Night mode will ONLY show up when you are using Google Maps navigation. It basically dims the screen and makes those green borders black.

PhoneScoop, get your act together!

The new update is for any phone that runs Android 2.0 and above. So, it also applies to the Nexus One which runs 2.1.
