Samsung Announces Its First Bada Phone, the Wave

Today Samsung announced the Wave, its first handset to run Samsung's home-developed Bada operating system. The Wave is a slab-style touch phone that has a 3.3-inch, 800 x 480, super AMOLED display that is smudge resistant. The central feature of the Wave is software developed by Samsung called Hub. Similar to Motorola's MOTOBLUR, Hub combines a user's email, instant messaging, social networks and calendar events into a single stream. Hub uses push technology to deliver a real-time stream of information to the Wave. The Wave also has TouchWiz 3.0, the newest version of Samsung's touchphone user interface. TouchWiz 3.0 has a 3D interface and offers improved user customization and flexibility, allowing users to personal their device. Other features of the Wave include a 5.1 megapixel camera with autofocus, flash, blink protection and 720p HD video capture. It is the first phone to have Bluetooth 3.0, and also has a 1GHz processor, Wi-Fi, aGPS, FM radio, and an accelerometer. It will support microSD cards up to 32GB, and comes with 8GB on-board storage. The Wave has quad-band GSM/EDGE and HSDPA 900/2100 support. It is also compatible with Samsung's application store. The Wave will be available in select markets beginning in April 2010.

I want one!

Though I wish the screen were a bit bigger, I think that this phone shows real promise. Since it will either be for at&t or T-Mobile, or both, I may not have to switch carriers just yet.

I had seen a screen that produced extraordinary color depth but thy wouldn't say anything else besides it would be on a phone announced at WMC. I would be willing to bet it's this phone. The only bad part I see with this phone would be third party sup...
