Today Adobe announced that it will make its AIR runtime software available on mobile devices, starting with Android later this year. Adobe has built AIR so developers can write programs that take advantage of mobile phone features, such as multitouch, gesture inputs, accelerometer and screen positioning. AIR will work in conjunction with Flash Player 10.1 to allow for applications that can run out of the mobile browser across multiple platforms. Developers should be able to develop in AIR and push applications to most devices running Flash Player 10.1. Adobe also reaffirmed its commitment to deliver Flash Player 10.1 to the Android platform during the first half of 2010. Adobe has made a beta version of Flash Player 10.1 available to developers.
