Seven today announced the general availability of Ping, a bundle of services that they hope will "push enable" a variety of mobile applications and devices. Based on Seven's existing push technology, Ping will expand push services beyond messaging and wireless data sync and offer the same type of instant notification on apps, like social networking portals, and a range of devices from high-end smartphones to mass-market handsets. Ping 1.0 is already in use by Seven and several of its partners, and today Seven is opening its platform to more partners and customers.
