HTC Desire Is Nexus One with Less Google, More Sense

Among the new phones that HTC unveiled at Mobile World Congress today in Barcelona, the HTC Desire leads the pack in raw power. With specs almost identical to the Google Nexus One, the HTC Desire offers a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor inside, as well as a 3.7" AMOLED touchscreen up front. Like the Nexus One, the HTC Desire will run Google's Android 2.1 OS, but will also support HTC Sense on top for an enhanced user interface experience. The HTC Desire will also ditch the physical trackball in favor of an optical trackball, basically a button with an optical sensor built into the center. The HTC Desire will see download speeds approaching 7.2 Mbps on HSPA networks, but so far only European and Asian 3G bands have been announced for the radio inside. The HTC Desire will be available in Europe and Asia in Q2; pricing has yet to be announced.
