HTC Legend Succeeds the Fabled HTC Hero

HTC today announced their update to the HTC Hero phone, the new HTC Legend. The HTC Legend gets a minor spec bump on the inside, but the exterior design has been redesigned dramatically. The phone is now mostly encased in a single, carved block of aluminum, much like the current Apple Macbook lineup. The new design is extra thin, but maintains the subtle chin for which HTC's Android phones quickly became known. The phone sports a 3.2" AMOLED screen with HVGA resolution. The new device will get Google's latest Android 2.1 OS and also HTC's updated Sense UI concept. Among other improvements, the new HTC Sense UI offers a Friend Stream feature, which organizes feeds from various social network streams into a single app. Inside, the HTC Legend will use a 600 MHz processor, which places it in HTC's lineup as a slightly thinner, less powerful version of their HTC Desire phone, also announced today. The HTC Legend will be available in Europe through Vodafone, or through HTC's own direct channel, in April. The rest of the world, mostly Asian markets, should expect the phone to launch in early Q2.
