Apple, RIM Land on ITC Hot Seat Over Kodak Patents

The International Trade Commission has opened up a formal investigation into products from both Apple and Research In Motion based on patent complaints made by Kodak. Kodak filed with the ITC, claiming that Apple and RIM are violating several of its patents regarding image capture and processing on electrical devices. The ITC said, "The products at issue in this investigation are smartphones with built-in cameras." All three versions of the Apple iPhone have cameras, as do many of RIM's BlackBerries. Kodak is seeking compensation for the use of its patents and is willing to talk to Apple and RIM. In the mean time, it hopes the ITC will agree to block both companies from importing their infringing products into the U.S.
