The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and other regulators have suggest that all states across the country install bans against texting while driving. The NHTSA has provided states that don't already ban such behavior with a basic framework that can be used on which to build their own, specific laws. The NHTSA suggests that drivers caught typing on a handheld device while driving should face a fine of at least $75 in addition to possible actions to hinder their driving privileges. If a someone is injuried and/or killed in an accident caused by a texting driver, the NHTSA believes charges should be escalated to a felony. "Texting while driving, like talking on cell phones while driving, is an extremely dangerous and life-threatening practice," Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said in a statement. Nineteen states already have bans against texting and or using mobile devices while driving. The NHTSA thinks by providing this legal framework, it could help some states adopt bans faster.

Car & Driver: Unprotected Text

Everyone should read this:

http://www.caranddriver.com/features/09q2/texting_wh ... »

For those out there that choose not to read it, Car & Driver is doing a very basic experiment in a closed course: Drive in a straight line & keep a look out for a red light that is placed over the dash under the windshield that the passenger will activate. This red light will illuminate & represent a vehicle braking in front of the driver.

The experiment records the results of normal driving conditions (i.e. no distractions, good weather), then proceeds to driving while texting, then driving while legally drunk.

Now, if a driver can't even perform a basic stop because of a distraction, then that person should n...

Distracted Driving

I am sure that every state already has distracted driving laws on the books. Here is an idea: Instead of wasting man hours and tax payer dollars on unnecessary, redundant legislation, let's find something constructive for these bureaucrats to do. Obviously the ones who came up with this idea don't have enough work.
yep, the words "distracted driving" cover a whole lot of things, including txtg.

P.S. Azeron: I'm getting extremely impatient with my phone. And wish an Android smartphone OTHER THAN the stupid-acc Backflip would come out on ATT
!!ALREADY!!

Distracted driving should broaden its scope to include people that are caught fapping while looking at inappropriate content. Both hands on the wheel!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤣

governments having too much power!

if you have 25,000$ or more in your stock account, you can daytrades as many times a day as you wish!
but if you poor, and have less than 25,000$ in your stock account, you only allow to daytrades 3 times in a 5 days period!
that is like going to casino, if you bet 100$ a game, you can take your profits and leave anytime!
but if you poor and bet 20$, you not allow to leave the table until you played 8 hours??
What in the blue hell are you talking about? What does this have to do with banning texting while driving? You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, please go back under the rock you crawled out from under.
