RIM Makes BESX Available for Free Download

Today Research In Motion made its BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express (BESX) software free to download. It offers many of the secure features that are included in the full BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) suite, but dials down on many of BES's additional features that small businesses may not need. BESX's main features include: wireless email, calendar, contacts, notes and tasks sync; manage email folders and search email on the mail server; full access to calendaring, meetings, availability and forwarding tools; set out-of-office replies; edit MSOffice documents; access company files behind the firewall and use mobile apps that are behind the firewall. BESX is meant to bridge the gap between RIM's full business-focused BES services and its consumer-oriented BIS offering.
