Verizon Wireless Quietly Drops Mail-In Rebate for Pre and Pixi

Verizon Wireless has eliminated the mail-in rebate previously necessary for customers to get the lowest price for the Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus. Customers will now only pay $149 out of pocket for the Pre Plus and $79 for the Pixi Plus.

It's a store thing

They are the only ones that have that (mail in erbates). When you order online for Verizon the rebates are always instant. So its not really a big deal. And that is For any phone you get online.

Why quiet?

I don't understand not being vocal about dropping in a mail in rebate. Customer's hate to deal with them. If I was going to get a Palm Pre I'd likely go with Sprint because of the lower plan cost, but if I didn't have to deal with a MIR with Verizon that may be enough to change my mind--- maybe it is just me though.
