Opera Submits Mini Browser for iPhone to Apple for Approval

Today Opera Software announced that it has submitted Opera Mini 5 to Apple for approval to be used on the iPhone. Opera believes that the competing browser's chances of passing muster with Apple's app approval process are good, as Opera Minu uses a proxy system to deliver compressed web pages to the handset rather than render web pages on the handset itself, as Apple's Safari browser does. Historically, Apple has disapproved of applications that duplicate the behavior of native iPhone apps.

And this is why

Apple should allow other browsers on their platform.

Not only would this speed up surfing considerably for users (especially in EDGE) but it would also lessen the data requirements in areas where people adopted it.

The Opera browsers are excellent
I know they are finally opening the development process for other browsers... but this one, frankly, spanks them when it comes to browsing.

Apple can't have competition!

Video of it in action!

I watched that video and the one the phone scoop made where they tested the speed of the safari vs the opera mini 5. Opera mini 5 killed them.

I doubt if you will see the opera mini 5 on the Touch or Iphone. I hope I am wrong.

Forget about it.

No way will Apple give Opera access to the Iphone and Touch. I love the Opera Browser, and would pay to download it on my Ipod Touch. I am not impress with the Safari browser at all.
