Stop trying to be the iPhone.

No, seriously. It's getting old.

Be yourself Google, do something DIFFERENT.

Palm, your a great company, do something DIFFERENT.

Blackberry, well, moving on...

Symbian, I live in the United States, do something for ME!

Windows, You might be onto something...

And seriously, to all of the manufactures...

WE ALREADY HAVE AN IPHONE!!!!
STOP MAKING DEVICES THAT "KIND OF LOOK LIKE THE IPHONE BUT AREN'T REALLY THE IPHONE"

Let Apple be Apple.

Stop trying to be Apple.
What does that have anything to do with "Android 2.1 Update for Droid Officially Underway?" You just ranted on and on about... nothing that has to do with this article. Stop trying to be ignorant 😉

"Over the next few weeks." Oh goodie!

Is this really how crappy the upgrade path is for the Droid? Does anyone think that a comparatively minor upgrade that takes 4 months to even start to be released for ONE additional handset (that Verizon is treating as their flagship nonetheless) is something to be proud of?

FYI it took Palm a week to announce, release, and distribute WebOS 1.4.
1) The rollout's been going for a week already.

2) Google released the code and you can upgrade yourself (legally) if you you're smart enough to know how to install an update.zip. Most stores also have the update on their computers and will instal...

Pinch 2 zoom

i dont care what anybody says...pinch to zoom is a finger movement. not something apple or anyone can patent. that's the dumbest thing i ever heard of. seriously, these companies are so fundamentally moronic who try to patent and sue over something so frivolous like finger movement on a screen. i mean really, GUI's probably, hardware designs yes. but finger gestures!?!? 🤣
also i would like to add...it's like if nintendo came out with the controller. then they turn around and try to sue sony for making a controller that can go UP, Down, Left, Right also. frivolous!

Android 2.1

The most noticeable difference is a jerkiness in the scrolling because the FPS was reduced from 60 to 30. Nice job Google and Verizon, for downgrading my phone with your OS 'upgrade'. Does this have something to with the rumors flying around that maybe the Verizon network can't handle all these smart phones and their requisite data plans.
I highly doubt any FPS slowdown is intentional. More than likely it was a small error in coding and an update will be pushed out soon (much like 2.0 to 2.01)

I have the 2,1 that was leaked about a month ago (running bugless beauty) and don't have ...

i want it for the g1

but i doubt that will happen. ☹️
You can root your G1 and easily install it on there. The only issue is that not all features might work correctly. You might want to look into it though.

It's pretty decent, honestly.

The "living wallpapers" are pretty cool on the Droid, and pinch and zoom works well, with just a tiny bit of hiccup.

The new photo gallery took a little bit longer to load the first time than I would have likes, but it is unimaginably cool compared to what it used to look like!

Unfortunatly Android is becoming a little bit like Windows Mobile, every software improvement requires a HUGE hardware upgrade to work well.

Don't get me wrong, it works on the Droid very well, but not nearly as nice as it does on the Nexus. It's dissapointing that the operating system does not work uniformly across all devices even if it is the same version.
It runs smoothly on the HTC Eris Droid.
It works fine on my phone too. the gallery takes longer to load because it is finding all the pictures you have on your device for the first time.
