Today Research In Motion added two new devices to its portfolio of BlackBerry messaging devices. The Peal 910X 3G and the Bold 9650 each take their respective forbears in new directions. Shared features include optical trackpads for navigation; 3.2 megapixel cameras with flash, image stabilization, autofocus and video recording; support for microSD cards up to 32GB; stereo Bluetooth and 3.5mm headset jacks; built-in GPS with geo-tagging; and HTML web browsers.
- 9100 Pearl 3G: This evolutionary update to the Pearl series adds 3G to the GSM model for the first time. It supports quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA 3G networks. It will come in two basic configurations. The 9100 will have a 20-key SureType keyboard as past versions of the Pearl have had. The 9105 will substitute a 14-key numeric keypad instead. The 910X series is the first to include 802.11n Wi-Fi for any BlackBerry. It has a 624MHz processor, and the display measures 360 x 400 pixels. It expected to go on sale in May through various carriers around the world.
- 9650 Bold: This update to the Tour introduces an optical pad and support for WiFi. The 2.44-inch display measures 480 x 360 pixels. It will be available from U.S. carriers - including Sprint - starting in May.
