Today Aava Mobile announced its Virta Android SDK, a new tool set that will allow developers to write for Intel-based Android devices. The Virta SDK includes a working x86 device with a capacitive touch screen, accelerometer, GPS, haptic feedback, and video/still camera. The SDK also includes quad-band GSM/EDGE, tri-band WCDMA, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth radios. All this hardware has been loaded with the Android SDK and is based in Intel's Atom processors. Intel announced the Z6xx smartphone processors earlier this year. To date, Android devices have been based on the ARM architecture. Aava Mobile expects this kit to ship in the third quarter of the year.
