Qik today clarified its plans for the Sprint HTC Evo 4G's video chat features. Video chat service will be free, with two-way videos up to VGA resolution. Customers who pay a $5 monthly premium will be able to see a higher resolution video for video calling. In addition, premium customers will also get some enhanced storage and sharing options, including automatic video downloads to a PC and the ability to send video mail messages. All users will be able to stream live to social networks and YouTube. While Qik is the only video chat app to come bundled with the Evo 4G, HTC has made clear that the front facing camera is open to developers, so other video chat options should be available.
