At the Apple WWDC in San Francisco, Apple demonstrated the new iOS4, a rebadged version of the iPhone OS. iOS4 will bring 1,500 new developer APIs to the table. Key among those will be the new multi-tasking features. Steve Jobs also demonstrated iBooks for the iPhone. iBooks will let users wirelessly download books, and it will synchronize books, highlights and notes across all iOS4 devices. iOS4 will also add folders, a unified email inbox with a threaded messaging view, deeper enterprise integration for business security and multiple Exchange account support, among other features. Apple will also add Bing search to the available options, which previously included Google and Yahoo. The final, golden master version of iOS4 is available to developers today. iOS4 will be a free download to iPhone 3G and 3GS owners, as well as iPod touch owners with a second generation device or better. Not all features will be supported by the oldest of these devices.
