AT&T Confirms Price Protection for iPhone 3GS Buyers

Apple and AT&T recently lowered the price of the iPhone 3GS 8GB to $99. Prior to June 7, the iPhone 3GS cost $199 for 16GB and $299 for $32 GB. AT&T is offering those customers who recently bought the iPhone 3GS price protection, depending on which model and when they bought it. AT&T is offering two options. The first allows iPhone 3GS owners to receive credit for the difference between what they paid and the new $99 price. AT&T says those who bought an iPhone 3GS between May 7th and May 14th will have until June 14th to get credit for the price difference. Those who purchased the iPhone 3GS May 15 or later will have the normal 30 days to get store credit. The second option will allow iPhone 3GS buyers to swap their iPhone 3GS for an iPhone 4. AT&T says that those who bought the iPhone 3GS between May 7th and May 14th will have until June 21 to pre-order the iPhone 4 at an AT&T store. The exchange will need to take place at a store, and not via mail. AT&T says that those who bought the iPhone 3GS at the new lower price points aren't eligible for the discounts or swaps, but do have the normal 30-day return policy, during which they can receive a full refund.
